Tile Adhesive and Waterproofing Supplier Singapore | Parexgroup
ParexGroup’s 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility literally went wild. The event, held in partnership with Singapore Zoological Garden, was an excellent opportunity for ParexGroup staff volunteers to interact and enjoy a wonderful day in the zoo, with MINDSville@Napiri residents.
MINDSville@Napiri is a residential home, manage by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS), catering to the needs of those with intellectual disabilities. The home aims to develop the potential of intellectually disabled personnel by helping and guiding them towards being independent and competency in the different aspects of their lives. MINDSville@Napiri believes that they too have their place in the society just like any other individual, and seeks to promote public awareness and acceptance of people with intellectual disability.
The event was held on two different days with one catering to the elderly residents and the other for the children from MINDS. We brought the residents for a delightful tour around the Singapore Zoo, visiting the various animals and walk-through exhibits that bring animals and visitors together in one space for incredibly intimate encounters. There were interesting animal shows to entertain visitors, showcasing the incredible beauty and abilities of the animals and the special bond between them and their trainers.
After the lunch break, we were entertained by ‘Feifei’, a well-known local comedian, with everybody joining in to sing and dance along during her energetic and hilarious performance. There were games galore where the residents get a chance to participate with the fun filled activities specially arranged for them. For the children’s event, we invited a magician who brought with him a spell binding and magic show that dazzled the kids. The smile on the MINDS residents face was priceless and made all the effort of organising these two events it.
On a separate note, ParexGroup supported the Singapore Zoo by taking part in their sponsorship program and proudly adopted a mandrill.
Do you know that Mandrills are actually the largest species of monkeys in the monkey kingdom? They are shy and reclusive primates that live only in the rain forests of equatorial Africa. Mandrills have one of the most colourful skin pattern as compared to other mammals of the world. They are easily identifiable by the blue and red skin on their faces and their brightly hued rumps. These colours identify strongly with our corporate colours and are one of the reasons why we chose the mandrill as our animal of interest to donate.
